Peter Tompkins is a partner and head of trustee consulting services at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has over 25 years of experience in actuarial advice and consultancy, half of that at PwC. His clients include scheme actuarial work, investment advice and support and advice to a number of firms establishing themselves in the expanding pensions buy-out market.

He spent a number of years between 1992 and 2004 on the Council of the Institute of Actuaries, serving as Chairman of its Pensions Board. In 2005 he served as an adviser to Sir Derek Morris's review of the Actuarial Profession and has since participated in the Value Working Party of the Board for Actuarial Standards.

At PwC, Peter is an Investment Adviser and is also responsible for the firm's training and technical support unit. He is a frequent columnist in the pensions trade press on trustee and corporate pensions issues.
